In Waccamaw Conference volleyball action Wednesday night, South Columbus defeated East Bladen 3-0 by set scores of 25-15, 25-14, and 25-16.
The Lady Eagles were led by junior Mary Frances Sutton, who contributed three kills, two aces, 12 attacks, and one assist. In addition to her 8 attacks, Miriam DeVane recorded 3 kills and a block. A dig and an assist were contributed by senior Karly Ross.
East’s Molly Evans contributed four attacks, two kills, and an ace. Iveonna “NeNe” Ward recorded five attacks, one kill, and one dig as a junior. In addition to her 4 attacks, Mollie Tolar had 1 dig, a kill, and a block.
Among the blocks collected by East were two by senior Dyiamon Robinson. One attack and one kill were recorded by junior Martha Simmons. One assist and an ace were tallied by Zoe Smith, a senior.
Tuesday night, South Columbus will host the Lady Eagles for a rematch for the Lady Eagles, who are now 2-4 in Waccamaw play and 4-10 overall.
