The government of UAE has taken the strong stance over sexual violence. Therefore stringent laws and regulations are designed to govern the matter. This is done to ensure the protection to the victims of sexual violence.  The term sexual violence refers to sexual harassment, rape, assault, abuse, and discrimination.

Besides, the laws and regulations are designed to punish the culprits and sexual offenders. Therefore severe penalties are imposed on them to hold them accountable for their actions. Victims are served with justice and fairness during the court trial. The UAE legal system comprises of Islamic laws and federal rules. In recent years, the legal system has become an amalgamation of sharia principles, UAE federal laws and international standards. All these are made to combat the sexual crimes against the victims. The UAE has criminalized the sexual harassment and Indecent Behavior resulting from physical, verbal, oral, mental, and digital. Any indecent comment or inappropriate advances is a part of verbal harassment. Similarly, any unwanted touch, groping, or physical advances are part of physical harassment.

Cyber harassment or online harassment is getting momentum day by day. Therefore, it is essential to deal with it. Therefore, digital harassment or cyber harassment is dealt with very stern punitive measures.

Any online threats, online coercion, explicit messages, videos, images, texts or action is categorized under cyber harassment. It leads to life imprisonment along with the hefty fines. This depends upon the severity of the crime. The UAE legal system has proper harassment laws for the workplace, public spaces, digital platforms, individuals, and business. They are designed to make individuals and organizations feel safe, secure, and protected in the UAE.

Furthermore, in sexual crimes where minors are involved the punishments are more intense. It is mandatory to report the child abuse. Schools, parents, medical professions and social workers are encouraged to report such incidents and instances.

For minor victims they are specialized child protection units. They are formulated in UAE to protect the victims and survivors of child abuse. Besides, it is encouraged that they receive support and counseling in traumatic times.

Nevertheless, the UAE has enforced a zero tolerance policy for child sexual abuse. Alongside, they are committed to provide legal and psychological support to affected minors and children.

Sexual crimes are intense and thus, the victims receive legal, medical, and psychological support from them.  The victim’s safety and wellness is ensured through protection.

Furthermore, to secure them from reputational damage the court trials remain confidential. This includes concealing the victim’s identity. Therefore, the identities of victims during the investigations and court trials remain anonymous.

In the UAE, the victims are provided with immediate medical and psychological aid.  They have access to free healthcare services. Moreover the victims are encouraged to report sexual crimes through various sources. 

Justice is served to the victims and the rehabilitation services are often provided to the survivors and victims of sexual violence.
